"Healthy enjoyment with good, safe food"(Federal Minister Ilse Aigner)

What we eat and drink affects our well-being and our physical and mental abilities. Food is also a part of culture: shared meal times are an occasion for an exchange and for discussions with family or friends. The BMELV promotes healthy enjoyment involving good, safe food. This includes the dissemination of information about the basic principles of a healthy diet, for instance in the National Action Plan "IN FORM – German National Initiative to Promote Healthy Diets and Physical Activity". In order to guarantee good, safe food from the farm gate and stable to the dinner plate, there are a number of statutory provisions coupled with extensive controls.
